L‐Lysine: EFSA examines new strain for ADM authorisation

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has delivered a new scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of liquid L-Lysine base produced from the genetically modified strain Corynebacterium glutamicum as a feed additive for all animal species. Holder of authorisation is ADM Specialty Ingredients (Europe).

The new application aims to expand the authorization to include NRRL B-68248 as an additional production strain. EFSA concluded that it is safe for all species and effective for non-ruminants. It needs protection against rumen degradation to be effective for ruminants.
